Well that was very strange. I don’t know much about Arthurian legends but this felt like one come to life. The editing and cinematography were very different. Usually I’d say different in a way of pretentiousness like in some other A24 movies or oscar air movies but here it really fit this adaptation of a legend. It was like an old school epic but with the weirdness that modern filmmaking allows. There was a great blend of classic fantasy with other elements like supernatural horror and Lord of the Rings like adventure. Dev Patel stars as Sir Gawain and really carries the show and you really can see how far he comes by the end of the movie. This isn’t an action blockbuster or the typical fun movie that most people look for at the theatres, but it’s one that’ll sit with you and make you think whether you like it or not. And it’s definitely not for everyone. It engaged me from the beginning and kept me engaged the whole time even when I had no idea what I was seeing on screen or listening to long winded old English dialogue. 8.5/10
